Usually YES, strictly appointment only. However remote notarisation, electronic notarisation (they are not the same) and stage 1 electronic legalisation (Foreign Office e-apostilles) are possible.
The most frequently document I notarise is a Power of Attorney.
For individuals - when buying a property overseas.
For corporate clients - to open a bank account or branch office overseas.
Documents for some countries require a two-stage legalisation process. As well as the Foreign Office’s Apostille stamp, some countries insist on ‘stamping’ all documents that are to be used in their territory: e.g. the UAE.
Please bring to the meeting your current Passport (UK or foreign), other options possible and proof of your residential address.
Additional documents may be required in certain circumstances.
